When the palace sorcerers heard what Baradach said about the apostles, they became jealous and accused them of plotting against the king and his territory. But having seen what the apostles did with respect to his diviner’s, Baradach quickly invited the palace sorcerers to set up their own challenge with Peter and Jude. The sorcerers had a multitude of tricks up their sleeve and immediately decided upon their favorite. They asked Baradack to bring eloquent lawyers and philosophers before them known to be able to speak at length at a moments notice. Then the sorcerers explained that they would make anyone who stood before them dumb. The lawyers and philosophers were brought before the palace sorcerers and it happened just as they had predicted. They explained that they would return their speech, but remove their sight making them blind. Once again, they were able to perform the feat just as they had predicted.
